Recap: Austin Fashion Week 2017
My feet are sore and I’m ready to pass out, but I have to say that this weekend went so smoothly. If you haven’t been following me on Instagram, I’ve been volunteering with Austin Fashion Week working as a seater/greeter for various special events and runways.
I wasn’t able to see any of the Moda X Mexico event (okay, well, maybe I saw one line), but from the pictures I saw, it was fabulous. However, after helping out with seating for the runway shows, I was able to sit in the audience and watch the shows – and they were amazing!
Each day was SUPERB. From shows featuring works from the seniors in UT Senior Design and kiddoes that made their own pieces in the Austin School of Fashion Design to lines from stars that were on Project Runway to the FANTASTIC designers we have here in Austin, everything was magical. There were fun pieces that showed off every type of style – and a few so exquisite I wish I could have taken them home with me!
Here are some of the pieces that I saw throughout the different nights of the runway.
Sunday was the last event of the week – a fun brunch at DomainNORTHSIDE that showed off the great clothing in some of the retails stores that are located there or that will soon be opening up.
It was a super chill event – guests could talk to the models and ask them questions or get them to stop for a quick picture. There was an overall upbeat atmosphere and I saw a few things I wouldn’t mind going to grab to add to my closet – especially that Austinite shirt ($32) and cute lace skirt in the slideshow above (by Kittsona).
And, of course, I couldn’t resist the urge to have fun with my dress code to dress in black. I used by Starlooks eyeliner/star stamp every single night, which definitely drew some attention and got a lot of compliments. I’m literally obsessed with it and will make sure to tell you all about it in Saturday’s post about my latest Ipsy Bag.
It was a long week, with several 7:00 AM work days, but it was definitely worth it. I am so glad that I was able to help out with the shows, meet some awesome people, and take a peek at the fun collections that are right here in the beautiful city of Austin.
And, the few small things I got after some of the shows definitely made it just a bit more special.
I’m totally heart eyes over the earrings from lily rain and I’ve never seen anything more Texas than that taco pin with the word Austin inside of it. That’s literally my life right there.
