With a hard week of final exams and projects behind me I turn to one of my favorite drinks, a citrus and berry green tea. With another test to study for I leave you in the hands of this yummy drink.
3-4 tbps of honey
1 whole lemon
1 whole lime
2-3 green tea bags
1 whole container of black berries
Step 1: Fill a pot with water, however many cups of water you want to make in tea. (5 cups of water for 5 cups of tea). Add 2-3 tea bags into the water.
Step 2: Boil water and tea bags until the tea is as dark as you want. (The darker the tea, the stronger the taste will be) (Usually about 10 minutes for medium strength)
Step 3: While the water is boiling pour the berries into a bowl and smash them with a spoon. Set aside.
Step 4: (Check the tea and possibly remove from heat depending on your tastes) Roll the lemon and lime on the cutting board with the palm of your hand. Roll them back and forth a few times to make them easier to juice.
Step 5: Cut the lemon and lime in half then squeeze the halves over the bowl with the smashed berries. Try to be careful of letting any seeds fall in with the berries. But any do don’t worry, just get fish them out with a spoon.
Step 6: Remove tea from heat if you have not already. Remove tea bags from water. Carefully drop the lemon and lime halves into the water to steep (soak into the tea).
Step 7: While the tea is steeping divvy up the berries and citrus juice into the bottom of your cups. Then a good dollop of honey into each cup (about a tablespoon each).
Step 8: Let the citrus steep for about 5-10 minutes depending on how much flavor you like in your tea. Then carefully spoon them out with a slotted spoon and discard.
Step 9: Pour the tea into the cups, over the berry mix.
Step 10: Mix together and chill until cooled.
Step 11: Enjoy
