Austin Fashion Week 2017

We are on to week two of May and that means a lot of things. Another week of aches all over my body from the fitness challenge. Another week closer to my vacation in California (and to see two of my best friends!). But right now, it means that Austin Fashion Week finally starts this Friday!

From the MODA X MEXICO event to the runways at JW Marriott featuring stars from Project Runway to the final brunch event at the Domain… I am all starry-eyed thinking about how dreamy all the fashion is going to be! Last year was just spectacular so I am really looking forward to seeing how the events turn out this year.

While I won’t be attending AFW 2017 as a guest, I will be volunteering at several of the events. And going behind the scenes is just a bit better than just attending to watch the shows. Last year proved to be fun – I enjoyed getting to learn about the setup and work with attendees to find their seats. Everyone was so nice (we are in Austin!) and I got to very briefly meet one of my favorite Austin bloggers.

The tickets for the shows might be a little pricy (especially for us poor college graduates), but they are totally worth it. And if you can’t go to those, there are soirees all week long being hosted by locals for trend shows, shopping events, and much more! I’ll be keeping an eye out for anything that I can attend and will definitely take to Twitter to let you know about it.

Since I didn’t have a blog for this last year to link you to, below is a flashback to some of the fun that I saw at AFW 2016:

Have you been to a fashion week before? What’s your favorite part? Feel free to share and comment below! I’ll be back with some fun, juicy details after AFW 2017 has ended.

P.S. I ended up getting a majorly bad flu last year the weekend of the AFW runways and I was just horrified. I ended up losing my voice overnight. However, due to an amazing makeover I’d had that morning, you couldn’t even tell I was sick by looking at me! Which is exactly where my love for Smashbox started.
