OOTD: Simple and Chic

May is starting up to be a whirlwind of a month. Work has been crazy busy and my calendar has majorly filled up through mid-June. Though, it’s no surprise since this month involves Austin Fashion week from May 13th – 21st (more on that next week), my birthday, holidays and weddings, and planning for my first real vacay in forever.

I know I won’t be able to take a breather for a while, so maybe that’s why I’m feeling the need to make my outfit today simple yet classy. My mom found this dress for me last year at CATO last year (thanks, Mom!) and I’m absolutely in love with it. The lace and floral print give it a feminine feel that really fits into my personal style. And it’s just one of those dresses that you can throw on for anything – it can be dressed up or down. Toss on some heels and pearls or keep it super caj with a denim jacket and some flats.

I wanted to keep my jewelry light – no statement necklaces and no dangling earrings. I stuck with a long necklace, small pearl earrings, a cute bracelet, and plain rings. Perhaps not minimalist in the slightest, but simple and just perfect for the look I wanted to put together.

I threw the hat on just for fun – it’s one of the originals that I built my collection with and has that perfect spring/summer vibe going on.

The boldest part of this outfit is definitely the lips. It’s a liquid matte from Smashbox called Bawse – a part of my fun haul from after the Nordstrom Spring Beauty Trend Show. I had originally grabbed a cute dark purple, but after realizing I had too many similar lipsticks in my collection, I just knew I had to grab a poppin’ red to get ready for the summer. It’s going to be my power color this season.
